Day Nine – Command Day Part 1

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to day nine of our voyage. The crew awoke to another overcast morning with passing showers which have become more frequent throughout the day.

At 0915 this morning the Command Team were given 30 minutes with the Staff Crew so that they could ask questions that may assist them in their elected positions throughout their Command period then at 1000 with everyone mustered at midships I handed over the Command Day instructions and the ‘telescope of challenge’ to Youth Crew Captain Tobias which officially commenced the 24hr Command Day period.

The Command team went into a thorough planning phase then set about completing as many tasks as possible before advising Staff that they would like to weigh anchor at 1515.

As requested the anchor was weighed at this time and thanks to some favourable winds the Youth Crew managed to sail away from anchor then successfully managed to navigate out of Jervis Bay.

Once in open water we again experienced some heavy rain and some strong southerly winds which are keeping our young mariners busy with changing of sail plans and navigating through the required waypoints.

Currently we are located 20nm to the north east of Jervis Bay and are experiencing strong to very strong 20-30 SE winds with a 2m SE swell.

Overnight we will continue our passage north along the NSW Coast with the Youth Crews mission being to safely sail and navigate the ship to Port Hacking with an arrival time of mid tomorrow morning.

Volunteering to write a very short entry in tonight’s Captains Log is Jayden, enjoy!

Until tomorrow, take care.

Yours Aye

Captain Gav

CAPTAIN’S LOG – 15MAR16

Hi guys its Jayden

Day 9 today and the voyage is nearly over which is a bit sad because throughout this voyage I’ve been having an awesome time and on behalf of everyone else I think they are having an awesome time too and I think no one wants to go home because everyone on this voyage have become like a family which is pretty good but a couple of people are a bit sick but hopefully they will get better when we get to Sydney. We have just come out of Jervis bay and are now heading towards Sydney and I can’t wait to be there and see everyone watching us sail in.
So we will see you guys on Thursday

Bye
