Day 6 – Wilsons Promontory

Ahoy there everyone, Overnight Young Endeavour continued motor sailing south rounding Wilsons Promontory in the early hours of the morning and into a significant westerly swell. Sunrise saw the ship proceeding towards the scheduled anchorage at picturesque Norman Bay where the ship anchored for six hours. During the night each of the watches successfully conducted a leadership and communication exercise facilitated by their watch leaders. Whilst at anchor morning brief, cleaning stations then mid voyage talks were conducted. This enabled the Youth Crew the opportunity to assess both individual and collective progress against their initial goals, then reset or reprioritise goals for the remainder of the voyage. After a fulfilling lunch it was time for round five of rope races’ which saw some very close competition between the watches as the Youth Crew were becoming increasingly familiar with the terminology, layout and location of items around the ship. On completion of this activity the ship weighed anchor and proceeded into four metre seas and 30 knots of wind beating west towards Port Phillip Bay.The intention is to remain at sea overnight making best speed towards Melbourne in the challenging conditions. The Youth Crew remain resilient and engaged displaying true determination and spirit in the prevailing weather. Until tomorrow evening.Yours ayeCaptain Damien
