Hi Everyone,
Again it was an early start this morning with the anchor being weighed at 0700 and the Ship departing Apostle Bay and conducting the 21nm passage back over to Airlie Beach via Hook Passage. Once anchored at Airlie Beach the Boats Crew proceeded ashore to recover the 4.7m RHIB which had now been repaired and was again fully serviceable.

With both boats and crew recovered the anchor was weighed at 1230 and we again proceeded out into the Whitsunday Passage. Once in open water the ship was brought under a modified sail plan and we went straight into a set of demonstrational tacks. This exercise allows the Youth Crew to view the ship being tacked from the bridge and is an important activity in the days leading up to Command Day. On completion of this activity the Ship was brought under a full press of sail for the first time for this voyage and we shaped a new course to the south, and in perfect conditions commenced our transit through the Whitsunday Passage.

Tonight under a spectacular full moon all of the watches will undertake the Bear Exercise' which is a leadership, team work, initiative and communication exercise designed to challenge the Youth Crew by getting them to complete tasks onboard which they have not been previously shown.

At the moment we are located 5nm to the west of Lindeman Island sailing on a very broad port reach under a full press of sail and achieving a comfortable speed of 5kts, which is quite good considering the relatively light conditions.

Until tomorrow, take care.

Yours Aye

Captain Gav
