Command Day
Ahoy there Shipmates,After a restful night at anchor in Broken Bay, the crew were awoken by Sail Master Harry at 0700 to a fine sunny morning. Once everyone was on deck Harry ran a quick heart-starter game of ‘Knights, Mounts and Cavaliers’. We then dined on another of Marcus’ delicious breakfasts, this time cooked on the BBQ on deck, prior to the Morning Brief, which as usual was followed by Happy Hour.At 1000 we began running the youthies ashore for some organised PT, run by Super Jay, followed by some free time for a stroll along the beach or a swim. All the crew had returned onboard by 1230 and the watches then cycled through lunch. At 1300 we held ‘Opposites’ where the elected Youth Crew talked with their opposite number in the Staff Crew. This is aimed at enabling the youthies to get an understanding of the full scope of the duties of each position to enable them to perform better in their role during Command Day.At 1400 the Staff Crew and I got dressed-up in our best holiday outfits and conducted the handover ceremony at which I handed Young Endeavour over to Captain Sam H and his able-bodied crew to use for Command Day to achieve their tasks and most importantly to have fun!Until tomorrow at 1400 when the adventure of Command Day draws to a close! Yours Aye, Captain Mike ———————————————- Arghhhh, Ahoy there,Our Command Day started with a quick talk of “Opposites†where our Youth Command team spent some time with the respective Staffie Command member. Our Youth Crew Command team includes: Sailmaster William Brazier, our Navigators Mollie D Murton and Sam Button, Watch Officer Grady Tyson.Following ‘Opposites’ we had the Command Handover with myself receiving a captains hat, original Ships telescope, and the long awaited Command Day Instructions and Navigator Instructions. Our departing Staffie crew sang a farewell number “Going on a holiday†and proceeded to back flipped into the ocean from our infamous rope swing which was warmly greeted with an uproar of excited cheering from our Youthies.Shortly after revealing the Command Day instructions our Youthie Command Team decided to open the “Pool†and did an impromptu SWIMEX (with staffie overview!!). We got to use the rope swing too… whoohooAfter closure of our big blue pool we got stuck into our assigned challenges including a giant chalk mural illustrating our voyage from Melbourne so far featuring day-by-day sketches of each day’s adventures. As time passed 1715 Blue Watch were the first called to a highlight of the day; dinner. This was also the first meal cooked entirely by our new chefs (Olivia Richards, Alex Shorey, Amy Nguyen Chong), the Italian themed cuisine sure went down a treat. With the day finally coming to a close we weighed anchor at 2030 sailing into the big blue heading to Sydney!! Keeping you updated,Youth Crew Captain Sam

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
