Ahoy There! Youth Crew Captain Cassidy and Sail Master Marten here,

Under the control of the youthie command team, the young endeavour made it safely to Port Jackson and anchored at 02:00 this morning. All members of the crew have put in a really solid effort, myself and Marten are very grateful for their resolve and for being able to complete tasks given to them while fatigued.
As a part of command day, the staffies gave us a set 22 tasks for the youthie crew to complete before 1400. Some our favourite tasks included building a hammock on board the young endeavour that could to hold the whole crew on. We also sent a beach assault team ashore via the sea boat. We where also challenged to see how many youthies we could send aloft on the foremast at one time.
As command day comes to an end, I feel that every member of the youthie crew has a new found respect for the staffies and have better understanding of how much work their job actually requires. It currently 1334 and all 22 tasks have been completed to the best of our ability.
At 1400 we will have an official handover and Captain Cassidy will return the Captains Hat and Telescope of Truth to Captain Mike. From there the youthies will return to their original watches and will be able to catch up on some sleep.
Command day has been an incredible learning experience for all those on board the young endeavour and has been a fantastic way to consolidate our knowledge. Not long now until the crew will be departing the ship and saying farewells to their newly found friends and the staffie and returning to their families. All of us agree that we will come away from the young endeavour as individuals that are better prepared for the real world.

Thanks to all the staffies for everything you have done for us, we will all treasure these memories forever.

Cassidy, Marten and the Youth Crew.

Ahoy there Shipmates,

As Cassidy and Marten detailed, the Command day for the Youth Crew was an incredible journey, a day filled with individual and team discovery, challenges, rewards, lessons, friendships and beauty. Now that we are at anchor in Little Many Cove, Sydney Harbour, we have many post-Command Day activities we need to complete before we can relax.

After dinner we held the Ship’s Operatic Department Show (SODS Opera) on deck. The Staffies opened the evening with a performance of ‘Staff Wars’, the highlights of the voyage seen through the eyes of a Star Wars fan. This was followed by performances from each of the watches and two fantastic individual performances from Alijah on the beatbox and Tom on acoustic guitar.

The intention is to remain at anchor overnight and sail tomorrow morning to allow the youth crew to host the community-day sailors and show them how much fun it is to sail Young Endeavour.

Until tomorrow.

Yours Aye

Captain Mike
