Blue Pearl Bay
Ahoy Shipmates, This morning was overcast with the occasional shower and a light south easterly breeze. Prior to morning brief we tacked Ship and shaped course for our planned anchorage at Hayman Island. After morning brief and the normal daily routine of happy hour’ (cleaning stations) we conducted another set of rope races followed closely by an early lunch. At 12:00 all sail was handed in and YE conducted the short pilotage to our anchorage at the beautiful Blue Pearl Bay (Hayman Island), finally coming to anchor in 20m of water at 12:20. Once at anchor the YC were ferried ashore were they enjoyed what is undoubtedly the best snorkeling in the Whitsunday’s. This time ashore gave everyone a chance to stretch their legs and for those that had been suffering from seasickness over the previous 24 hours, the opportunity to recover. Once back onboard the Boats Officer provided a short Rule of the Road lecture which was followed by the first teak deck BBQ for this voyage. This evening we enjoyed a session of three way talks. This exercise assists the YC in getting to know each other as well as assisting in developing confidence in public speaking. Following three way talks the Navigator gave a brief presentation on the responsibilities of looking after the Ship whilst at anchor, prior to everyone settling into anchor watches for the evening and a much needed good night’s rest. Tomorrow will see us depart Blue Pearl Bay and continue our voyage around the beautiful Whitsunday IslandsYours AyeCaptain Gav

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
