Ahoy Shipmates,

Despite the weather still being overcast with the occasional shower everyone was awake bright and early this morning and on deck at 0630 for Early Morning Activity. After morning brief and cleaning stations (Happy Hour) I took the opportunity to impart some of my sailing knowledge by giving the Captain's Sail Theory Lecture. This was followed by the first set of hotly contested Rope Races and finally to finish of the morning a lecture by the Navigator on the scientific art of navigation. After lunch YE weighed anchor and proceeded under main engines on a scenic cruise to Cottage Point. This period within confined waters gave the Watch Leaders an opportunity to conduct mid voyage talks and once completed watches proceeded aloft (climbed mast) to put sea furls on the topgallant and the topsail before again entering open water and a predicted 2m swell. On departing Broken Bay the wind was still coming from the south west so all fore and aft sails were set and YE shaped course to the south east.

At the moment all YC have settled into their watches for the night and YE is currently 20nm to the south east of Broken Bay. It is anticipated that all hands will be required on deck to tack ship sometime throughout the night so that we can continue to make ground to the south.

Yours Aye

Captain Gav
