24 YOUNG AUSTRALIANS JOINED YOUNG ENDEAVOUR FOR AN ADVENTURE UNDER SAIL FOR VOYAGE 17/03 BOUND FOR SYDNEY. FAMILY, FRIENDS AND FORGACS DOCKYARD STAFF WAVED GOOD BYE AS THE SHIP CLEARED THE BERTH AT 1600. DUE TO THE HEAVY WEATHER BEING EXPERIENCED OFF SHORE YOUNG ENDEAVOUR BERTHED AT QUEENS WHARF, NEWCASTLE AND COMMENCED THE YOUTH PROGRAM. AT DUSK THE YOUTH CREW COMMENCED CLIMBING ALOFT TO THE LOWER TOP. THIS WAS A FIRST TIME EXPERIENCE AND ALL YOUTH CREW
SUCCESSFULY COMPLETED THE CHALLENGE, A WONDERFULL EFFORT. OVERNIGHT ALL WATCHES AGAIN CLIMBED ALOFT AND CONTINUED WITH SHIP TOURS AND ROPE WORK. THE NEW DAY STARTED WITH A JOG AROUND THE UPPER DECK AT 0630 FOLLOWED SOON AFTER WITH A SCRUMPTIOUS BREAKFAST. MORNING BRIEF AT 0800 INTRODUCED THE YOUTH CREW TO THE FINER DETAILS OF SHIP BOARD LIFE ON A TALL SHIP. THE FORENOON WATCH COMPRISED OF A SAFETY BRIEF AND LINE HANDLING PRACTICE.
