Approaching New Zealand

Very little wind yesterday afternoon which was perfect for the concert that was held in balmy, nearly warm conditions. Glorious sunset really set the scene. Concert was of a reasonable standard. Lots of sea sick gags which is hardly surprising. Continuing to motor sail although a NE breeze (10 kts) blew up this morning. A cyclonewell to the nth is holding a high over our current position which will probably mean SE winds for the Cook Strait. I do not think we will get the NW winds I was hoping for. Command day elections are about to be held for a commencement at 1600. It will be fairly challenging I think. We expect to make NZlandfall at around that time (currently about 45 nm away). Still have not seen anybody else out here since Storm Bay. I thought as we areapproaching the strait we would see something. I cannot recall going so long without seeing some sort of shipping. It is very cold for Jan and these penguins are a long way north.
