Another Good Days Sailing
Hi Everyone, Welcome to Day 3 of our voyage. At 0330 this morning the Youth Crew where woken and called to tacking stations so that we could avoid a large number of fishing boats who had strategically positioned themselves very close to the entry to Palm Passage. Once the tack was complete a weary crew returned to their bunks and took the opportunity to get a couple more hours of much needed sleep. By 0900 everyone was mustered on the port side of the bridge and following the normal routine of morning brief and cleaning stations I commenced my sail theory lectures. These lectures are conducted in watches throughout the day so that I get to spend quality time with the Youth Crew teaching them the intricacies of sailing Young Endeavour. Following lunch the Engineer conducted the first set of rope races which was immediately followed by Trish the Navigators informative presentation on navigation. The conditions throughout the day continued to be perfect for sail training and we took full advantage of the light to moderate south easterlies, tacking the ship as required, and demonstrating the procedures for setting and furling the square sails. At 2000 we completed what is hoped to be the final tack for the day and we have now shaped a new course to the north west and commenced making ground to our planned anchorage at Orphious Island. Overnight the Youth Crew will continue to consolidate their newly acquired sailing and navigation skills.Until tomorrow, take care.Yours AyeCaptain Gav

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
