A CONSISTENT 10-15 KNOTS SOUTH/SOUTH-EAST
PAST 24 HOURS

WINDS HAVE BACKED SLIGHTLY AND HAVE SEEN A CONSISTENT 10-15 KNOTS
FROM THE SOUTH/SOUTH-EAST, WHICH HAS MADE FOR SOME FANTASTIC SAILING TO THE NORTH. OVERNIGHT WATCHES CONSOLIDATED SOME SAIL HANDLING, NAVIGATION AND CLIMBING SKILLS, ALONG WITH SOME MORE GETTING TO NOW EACH OTHER ACTIVITIES.

EARLY THIS MORNING THE SHIP SHAPED A COURSE FOR SOLWAY PASSAGE, A TIGHT LITTLE PASSSAGE THAT ACTS AS A GATEWAY TO ARGUABLY ONE OF
AUSTRALIAS MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACHES. AT LOW WATER TO ENSURE MINIMAL TIDAL STREAM AND INFLUENCE YOUNG ENDEAVOUR TRANSITED THIS BEAUTIFUL PASSAGE TO ARRIVE AT WHITEHAVEN BEACH, WHITSUNDAY ISLAND AT 0900.

WITHOUT HESITATION, THE RUNS ASHORE COMMENCED TO ENSURE MAXIMUM ENJOYMENT OF THIS NATURAL WONDER. WHILST ASHORE THE YOUTH CREW CONDUCTED THEIR MID VOYAGE TALKS, WHERE GOALS AND AIMS WERE DISCUSSED AND RE-ASSESSED. THE VOYAGE THUS FAR WAS SUMMED UP WITH SOME HIGHS AND LOWS AND THEN IT WAS INTO A QUALITY GAME OF YOUNG ENDEAVOUR WORLD SERIES BEACH CRICKET AND SOME SWIMMING.

JUST A SHORT VISIT, (THAT REALLY IS A MUST WHEN IN THIS NECK OF THE
WOODS) SO AS NOT TO LOSE TOO MUCH QUALITY SAILING TIME AND THEN IT WAS INTO LUNCH BACK ON BOARD AND THEN SOME MORE SAILING. A VERY ENTERTAINING AFTERNOON BRIEF WAS CONDUCTED AND THEN IT WAS TIME FOR YET ANOTHER HAPPY HOUR.

THE AFTERNOON WAS CAPPED OFF WITH A QUICK SUM UP OF SAIL THEORY AND THEN SOME DEMONSTRATIONAL TACKS. THE AIM BEING TO GIVE A THOROUGH UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TACKING AND WEARING WORKS PRIOR TO COMMAND DAY, WHICH IS NOW JUST AROUND THE CORNER.

OUR TEAM IS CONTINUING TO DEVELOP STRONGLY AND ALL APPEAR TO BE
MAKING THE MOST OF THE OPPORTUNITY. COMMENTS FROM YOUTH CREW
