Currently we are at anchor at Lady Musgrave Island enjoying light 5-8kt NNE winds with nil swell. The current temperature is a pleasant 19 degrees.
Welcome to Day 4 of our voyage. We made good speed overnight in pleasant conditions and by sunrise this morning we were located 18nm to the south east of Lady Musgrave Island motor sailing in light conditions.
At 0930 we came safely to anchor just to the west of the entry of the picturesque Lady Musgrave lagoon. Once safely at anchor we conducted another entertaining morning brief, cleaning stations (happy Hour) then enjoyed another one of Chef Keely’s amazing lunches.
At 1140 the Youth Crew were mustered at midships and given a boat safety and snorkelling brief then were ferried ashore to Lady Musgrave Island where they were given the opportunity to explore the island, snorkel inside the coral lagoon or just enjoy lazing about on the beach. The snorkelling turned out to be a big hit with beautiful crystal clear water and sightings of numerous turtles and plenty of marine life.
By 16150 everyone was safely back onboard and following some short down time we enjoyed our first Teak Deck BBQ for the voyage. Once we had cleaned up from dinner we conducted an entertaining round of three way chats which is communication and public speaking activity.
The time is now 2000 and Harry the Navigator is finishing the day’s activities with an anchor brief. Once completed, we will settle into anchor watches overnight ensuring that everyone enjoys a much needed good night’s sleep.
Tomorrow morning we will weigh anchor, depart Lady Musgrave Island and continue our passage through the Great Barrier Reef.
Until tomorrow, take care
