1770 Festival

Ahoy Shipmates,As anticipated the Ship went to tacking stations twice throughout the night with a very tired YC dragging themselves out of their bunks and mustering at their appropriate tacking stations and completing two very good tacks. During the early hours of this morning the watches set and furled sails so that the Officer of the Watch (OOW) could manage the ships speed so as to reach Round Hill Head under full sail at 0830. To their credit they achieved this without the use of engines and much to the delight of the residents of 1770 YE achieved the full sail entry into Bustard Bay emulating James Cooks entry on Bark Endeavour on this exact day 238 years ago. Once all sail was handed in, and the ship safely at anchor, the YC completed a quick set of cleaning stations (happy hour) before changing into period costume and being ferried ashore to be given a very warm welcome from the organisers and spectators of the 1770 Festival. The afternoon was spent enjoying the festival and being inundated with thanks from 1770 community for YOUNG ENDEAVOURS contribution to the festival. By 1700 a tired but happy YC were back onboard and on completion of a teak deck BBQ everyone mustered on deck to witness the festivals impressive fireworks display. Following the fireworks it was straight into an entertaining evening of three way talks followed by the Navigators presentation on anchor watches. Everyone has now turned in for a much needed good nights sleep.Tomorrow will see YE depart Bustard Bay (hopefully under full sail) and continue our voyage north. Yours AyeCaptain Gav
